Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, IAS, reviewed preparations for Ganesh Festival 2026 at the GHMC Head Office. Senior officials and heads of departments attended the meeting.
The review covered arrangements across the newly added circles, zones and incorporated areas. Officials discussed procession routes, immersion points, traffic management and public safety measures.
The civic body also reviewed sanitation, lighting, power supply, medical services and emergency response. In addition, officials discussed cranes, boats, swimmers and lifesaving equipment for immersion operations.
Ganesh Festival 2026 preparations focus on immersion safety
GHMC will arrange mobile toilets, fogging and round-the-clock sanitation during the festival. Zonal Commissioners have also been directed to hold coordination meetings with all concerned departments.
Special attention will go to the Balapur Ganesh procession and immersion. GHMC will establish a dedicated coordination mechanism to address infrastructure, sanitation, utility and emergency-service requirements.
A dedicated Control Room will monitor activities in real time during the festival and immersion period. Static and mobile cranes will also support operations at major immersion locations.
Meanwhile, GHMC plans to complete road repairs along procession routes and crane-related works by September 13, 2026. The civic body aims to ensure a safe, clean and well-coordinated festival for devotees across Hyderabad.
Vinayaka Chavithi will be observed on September 14, 2026, while Ganesh immersion is scheduled for September 25, 2026.
