Hyderabad: Telangana Labour, Employment, Training, Factories, Mines and Geology Minister Dr G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Saturday said students studying in government schools could achieve the highest positions in the country through discipline, determination and hard work.
The Vivek Venkatswamy government schools message came while the minister addressed a programme organised by Sureify School Kits at the Government High School in Chegunta, Medak district. He distributed free school bags to students before interacting with students, teachers and parents.
The minister said government schools now offered opportunities beyond classroom education and enabled students to compete globally. He noted that rural students were securing admissions into prestigious institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), medical colleges and engineering institutions through dedication and perseverance.
He praised Chegunta Government High School for producing two students who secured admission to IIIT and credited the achievement to the commitment of the teaching staff.
Vivek Venkatswamy government schools vision
Dr Vivek urged every student to set clear career goals, whether as doctors, IAS officers, engineers or professionals in other fields. He said discipline and consistent hard work remained the foundation of every successful career.
The minister said the Telangana Government was giving high priority to strengthening infrastructure in government schools. He appreciated the combined efforts of the government, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and voluntary organisations in improving classrooms, sanitation facilities and other essential infrastructure.
Dr Vivek also commended Sankalp Foundation for supporting thousands of students and encouraging those pursuing higher education. He described the organisation’s contribution as an outstanding example of social responsibility.
Vivek Venkatswamy government schools and skill development
Dr Vivek said his commitment to supporting education was inspired by his father, the late G. Venkataswamy. After achieving success in business, he began improving government schools across the Peddapalli Parliamentary constituency by providing furniture and strengthening infrastructure.
He said every individual had a responsibility to give back a portion of their earnings to society, adding that such contributions reflected social responsibility rather than charity.
Highlighting the growing importance of skills, the minister said artificial intelligence was transforming the employment market. Therefore, he said students should acquire modern, industry-relevant skills alongside formal education.
He said the State Government was establishing Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) to prepare young people for future careers. In addition, the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM) was providing foreign language training and creating domestic and international employment opportunities.
Dr Vivek also stressed the importance of sports and cultural activities for the overall development of students. He advised students to respect their parents, uphold strong moral values and pursue excellence in every field.
Responding to a long-pending demand from local residents, the minister assured that he would take up the proposal for establishing a Government Degree College in Chegunta with the State Government and make every effort to secure its approval.
