Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Shravan wrote a letter to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
He alleged that the Congress party was adopting contradictory positions on national and international issues.
According to Shravan, there is a disconnect between the stand taken by the Congress leadership in New Delhi and the policies pursued by the Telangana government.
In the letter, he said he was not targeting Rahul Gandhi personally.
Instead, he said he wanted to highlight what he described as inconsistencies in the party’s approach.
He questioned whether Congress follows a uniform ideology across the country.
He also asked whether the party adopts different positions based on political convenience.
Dasoju Shravan letter cites Congress remarks on Trump
Meanwhile, Shravan attached a June 20 statement issued by Congress national spokesperson Pawan Khera to support his argument.
According to the letter, Congress criticised the Union government’s foreign policy.
It also accused the Centre of prioritising publicity over national interests.
Further, Shravan said the Congress statement criticised the relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.
However, he argued that the party’s national position was at odds with developments in Telangana.
The BRS leader alleged that the Telangana government was preparing to inaugurate “Donald Trump Avenue” in Hyderabad’s Financial District.
The proposed avenue is located near the US Consulate.
He said the move came only days after Congress leaders criticised Trump at the national level.
Therefore, Shravan asked Rahul Gandhi how he would justify what he termed a contradiction in the party’s positions.
The letter has added a political dimension to the debate over consistency in Congress policies at the national and state levels.
