Chain-snatching accused gets five years jail in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A Hyderabad court sentenced a chain-snatching accused to five years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 in a case registered at Shahalibanda police station.

The XVI Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Nampally convicted accused Muthu Hari Krishna in the case.

Police said the accused snatched a gold chain from a woman near Patarki Dargah on July 24, 2018, and escaped from the spot.

Shahalibanda police later arrested the accused and recovered the stolen gold chain along with cash.

Detective Inspector B Narasimha Sanjay Reddy conducted the investigation and presented evidence before the court.

After examining the evidence, Magistrate G Prabhakar found the accused guilty and pronounced the sentence.

The court awarded five years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a Rs 25,000 fine on the accused.
