BJP prepares to contest all municipal and corporation seats in Telangana

Hyderabad: BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao announced on Saturday that the party will contest all seats in the upcoming municipal and corporation elections across Telangana. He made the declaration at the Vijay Sankalpa Sammelan. This was a massive preparatory meeting held in Secunderabad.

Rao said the BJP is fully prepared to fight elections in 10 municipal corporations and 121 municipalities. He claimed the party has achieved rapid grassroots expansion, especially in rural areas of the state.

BJP targets Congress, touts rural gains and Central aid

Addressing party workers, Rao highlighted the BJP’s performance in recent local body polls. He said BJP-supported candidates won nearly 1,000 sarpanch posts and 1,200 to 1,500 upa-sarpanch posts. They won around 10,000 ward member positions, which is up from 150 sarpanch seats previously.

He criticised rival parties, accusing the BRS of losing public relevance and predicting its internal collapse. He also alleged that the ruling Congress had falsely taken credit for victories by independent candidates.

Rao targeted Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for failing to implement welfare schemes and election promises. He questioned the delay in Rythu Bandhu payments and the status of the Job Calendar. In addition, he mentioned the absence of promised benefits like one tola gold for women. He accused the Congress government of functioning as a “40 per cent commission regime.” He also claimed ministers were engaged in public infighting.

Emphasising the Centre’s contribution to Telangana’s growth, Rao said the Modi government sanctioned ₹12 lakh crore over 11 years. He cited key projects including the Kazipet Coach Factory, Ramagundam Fertiliser Plant, AIIMS Bibinagar, and Sammakka–Sarakka Tribal University. Rao also accused the state of removing the Prime Minister’s image from Central schemes to claim sole credit.

He criticised the Congress for not implementing central schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Fasal Bima Yojana. This was despite high demand for healthcare and crop insurance.

Stating that 52 lakh voters are registered in municipal areas, Rao called the Panchayat poll wins the BJP’s “first step.” He urged voters to deliver a decisive verdict in the upcoming civic polls. He appealed for public support to bring a “double-engine government” to Telangana.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, BJP Parliamentary Board member Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and senior leaders including Eatala Rajender, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, and Alleti Maheshwar Reddy also attended the event.
