KTR slams Congress over unfulfilled promises, urges strong BRS push in civic polls

Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government in Telangana. He accused it of failing to deliver on key promises even after completing two years in office.

Speaking at a felicitation event held in honour of newly elected BRS sarpanches and ward members at the Bhramaramba Convention Hall in Jangaon town, KTR criticised the Revanth Reddy-led administration for its handling of farmers’ issues and alleged policy failures. He said farmers were being forced to queue for urea in winter. This situation reflected a severe governance lapse.

“This is the same Congress that promised a return to better days but has only brought back the old problems,” KTR said. He alleged the party has conveniently forgotten its long history of neglecting Telangana for 60 years.

KTR defends BRS legacy, questions Congress delivery

Lauding the achievements of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, KTR said the BRS founder risked his life for the Telangana movement and led the state to rapid progress. He credited the previous BRS government with delivering piped drinking water to households. They also launched Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, pensions under Aasara, and irrigation projects.

He said these efforts were instrumental in placing Telangana among India’s top-performing agricultural states.

KTR also questioned the implementation of promises made in the Congress’ Warangal Rythu Declaration. “Where are the increased Rythu Bandhu benefits? What happened to aid for tenant farmers, bonuses on crops, and job recruitment?” he asked. He added that unfulfilled commitments to women and youth have left people disappointed.

Call to strengthen BRS in upcoming municipal polls

Turning to the upcoming municipal elections, KTR urged BRS leaders and grassroots representatives to campaign vigorously and ensure a strong performance. “When people see the car symbol, let them remember KCR and vote with conviction,” he said.

He appealed to every elected sarpanch to actively work for the party in local body polls. KTR also said the large turnout in the Jangaon rally and the enthusiastic public response to the BRS flag felt like a reaffirmation of KCR’s leadership.

“The commitment of BRS cadre across Telangana is the party’s greatest strength,” he said.
