Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy are scheduled to conduct a Devadula project review during their visit to Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts on Monday. The ministers will inspect ongoing works at the Devadula and Sitarama Sagar projects before holding review meetings with officials on their progress.
According to the official schedule, the two ministers will leave Begumpet Airport by helicopter in the morning and first reach the Devadula Project helipad. They will inspect the project’s offtake point and pumping station before reviewing the status of ongoing works with senior officials.
The ministers will later travel to the Sitarama Sagar Project in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. They are expected to conduct a field inspection of the construction works, offtake point and water distribution system before chairing another review meeting.
Devadula project review expected to focus on irrigation works
Officials said the Devadula project review is expected to cover the progress of both irrigation projects, water utilisation, irrigation availability, pending construction works and future implementation plans. Discussions may also include the release of Central funds, pending project proposals, inter-state river water disputes and other key irrigation issues.
The meeting assumes significance as the Telangana government has recently intensified efforts to speed up irrigation projects requiring Central assistance.
Meanwhile, Uttam Kumar Reddy is also scheduled to visit New Delhi later on Monday. During the visit, he is expected to meet the Union Water Resources Secretary to discuss irrigation-related issues concerning Telangana, including the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages. He is also likely to urge the Centre to facilitate the early restoration of the barrages.
In another development, officials successfully commissioned the motors at the Narlapur Pump House under the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme on Sunday night. The motors were activated after the completion of electrical works and technical tests. The State government had recently cleared ₹160 crore in pending dues to TRANSCO, enabling the restoration of power supply required for commissioning the facility.
The commissioning of the Narlapur Pump House marks another important milestone in the implementation of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.
