Congress to finalise nominated posts after Meenakshi Natarajan meeting

Hyderabad: The Congress leadership is expected to take a nominated posts decision on July 15 or 16 after a meeting involving Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, according to party sources.

The meeting is expected to review the appointment of chairpersons and other nominated positions, including whether to retain some incumbents, replace others or induct new leaders. Party sources said the Chief Minister favours assessing the performance of existing chairpersons before taking a final call.

Meenakshi Natarajan is scheduled to arrive in Hyderabad on July 14. The high-level meeting is expected to finalise appointments after consultations between the party and the State leadership.

Nominated posts decision expected after performance review

The two-year tenure of 37 nominated chairpersons ended on July 8, triggering intense competition for the vacant positions. According to party sources, around 10 aspirants are in the race for each post, with former chairpersons and leaders awaiting their first appointment actively lobbying for consideration.

Sources said many aspirants are seeking the support of district ministers, district in-charges and senior government leaders. Some leaders are also reportedly reaching out to the Congress high command in New Delhi, including Meenakshi Natarajan, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal.

Party sources indicated that a limited number of former chairpersons could receive another term based on their performance. Others may be considered for different corporations or boards depending on organisational requirements.

The nominated posts decision may also include the appointment of MLAs to key corporations such as the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) and the Civil Supplies Corporation, according to a senior minister. Besides chairpersons, the party is also expected to announce vice-chairpersons and directors during the exercise.
