Congress cadre upset as Siddipet left out of nominated posts

Hyderabad: Congress workers in Siddipet have voiced frustration over the constituency’s exclusion from recent appointments to nominated posts. Despite Siddipet’s political importance, party leaders allege that their region remains overlooked.

Key bodies left without appointments

More than a year into the Congress government’s term, Siddipet constituency has not received any major nominated posts. No governing bodies have been formed for the Siddipet, Nangunur, or Chinnakodur market committees. The Siddipet Urban Development Authority also remains without a chairman or board. Local temple committees have seen no appointments either.

The dissatisfaction intensified after Congress filled positions in the neighbouring Dubbak constituency. Committees in Toguta, Dubbak, Mirudoddi, Chegunta, and Doultabad received governing bodies. None of those roles went to Siddipet leaders.

Local leaders feel neglected

Siddipet Congress leaders continue to lobby key figures in the undivided Medak district. However, they say the selection process remains closed and driven by internal lists. They believe the party is not giving Siddipet its due share.

Except for one or two low-profile positions, no meaningful posts have gone to the constituency. Leaders have blamed district minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who represents Husnabad, for focusing only on his own segment.

Minister accused of ignoring Siddipet

Party insiders revealed that Ponnam has not issued recommendation letters for Siddipet-based aspirants. That move has caused further anger among local cadre. Though he now serves in the state cabinet, many leaders say the minister treats Husnabad as part of Karimnagar and ignores Siddipet entirely.

They also criticised the inaction of the Siddipet constituency in-charge. His lack of effort in securing nominated positions has sparked open debate in party circles. The issue has now become a key flashpoint among Congress workers in Siddipet.

As discontent builds, party cadre await a clear response from the state leadership.
