Hyderabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla urged Bharat Scouts expansion in private schools across Telangana after BSG state leaders briefed him on ongoing activities and future plans.

The Bharat Scouts and Guides Telangana delegation met the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. Shukla serves as the Chief Patron of BSG in Telangana.

M. Dana Kishore led the delegation. He serves as Special Chief Secretary to the Governor and state Chief Commissioner of BSG. School Education Director E. Naveen Nicolas, who also serves as BSG state secretary, attended the meeting along with other senior office-bearers.

Bharat Scouts expansion reaches all districts

The delegation told the Governor that scouting activities now cover all 33 districts of Telangana.

Dana Kishore said BSG was strengthening infrastructure through Corporate Social Responsibility funds and Governor’s Funds. He added that about 1,200 BSG units were functioning in the State. Moreover, more than 30,000 students were actively participating in scouting activities.

Naveen Nicolas said the state government had extended regular financial support to BSG activities. He added that BSG would enrol 1,000 schools during the 2025–26 academic year. Another 1,000 schools are expected to join in 2026–27.

He also said BSG was preparing a comprehensive activity calendar. Consequently, the organisation aims to establish BSG units in every school across Telangana.

Shukla appreciated the progress achieved by BSG Telangana. However, he advised the organisation to widen its reach further. In particular, he asked leaders to encourage greater participation from private schools.

The Governor said facilities at the State Training Centre would help young scouts develop leadership qualities and improve personality development skills.

Finally, the BSG Telangana delegation assured him that it would continue extending scouting activities to all parts of the State.
