Hyderabad: Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman challenged BRS leader T. Harish Rao to an open debate on the allegations of corruption in Gurukul institutions. He said the Congress government was ready to discuss expenditure on Gurukul schools, borrowings by the previous BRS government and loans raised by the present government.
Adluri Laxman, along with Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Mohammed Azharuddin, gathered at Gun Park and asked Harish Rao and K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) to join the discussion. He said the government had complete records of expenditure on Gurukul institutions and was ready to place them before the public.
Adluri Laxman invites BRS for open debate
Speaking at Gun Park, Adluri Laxman said the government was ready to discuss both its development initiatives and the BRS government’s record. Further, he said the government would present supporting documents at the Somajiguda Press Club.
He also urged BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) to attend the Assembly if he preferred a debate there. According to the Minister, the government was prepared to answer questions on any department. He added that the ministers were ready to face any consequence if the BRS proved corruption in Gurukul institutions.
Meanwhile, Harish Rao accepted Adluri Laxman’s challenge and said the BRS leaders would head to Gun Park. He said the ministers had initially invited them to the Press Club before asking them to gather at the Martyrs’ Memorial.
However, Harish Rao said the BRS had no objection to the change of venue. He also urged the ministers not to leave Gun Park before their arrival or attempt to have BRS leaders arrested. He said the discussion could continue at the venue until the evening.
