Hyderabad: The Warangal police cycle rally held on Wednesday marked Police Martyrs’ Memorial Day with spirited public participation. Police Commissioner Sunpreet Singh joined hundreds of students, youth, senior citizens, and officers who cycled through city streets to honour fallen policemen.
City joins hands with police to pay tribute
The rally began from the Police Commissioner’s office and passed through Ambedkar Centre, Adalat Centre, and the Hanamkonda Collectorate. It returned via Nakkalagutta to the Commissionerate headquarters. Additional DCPs Ravi and Suresh Kumar flagged off the rally. Meanwhile, senior officials such as Greater Warangal Municipal Commissioner Chahat Bajpai, NDP CLC CMD Varun Reddy, and East Zone DCP Ankit Kumar took part.
Throughout the route, riders raised slogans in memory of martyrs. Commissioner Sunpreet Singh also pedalled alongside local cycling groups and encouraged the participants. Consequently, the rally drew attention from citizens along the route.
Certificates distributed, cycling promoted for fitness
After the ride, police officers presented certificates to all participants. Commissioner Singh said daily cycling improves health and boosts efficiency at work. Moreover, he urged everyone to spend a few minutes each day cycling to prevent health problems.
Later, he expressed gratitude on behalf of the police department and martyrs’ families to all those who joined the tribute. In addition, the event saw participation from additional DCPs Srinivas, Prabhakar, Balaswamy, ASP Shubham, ACPs Jitender Reddy, Narsimha Rao, Ananthayya, Nagaiah, and Satyanarayana. Members of AJ Pedals, Tricity Cycling Riders, the Public Gardens Walkers Association, NIT students, and other police staff also joined the event.
