Hyderabad: UPC Volt, a Netherlands-based joint venture, will invest ₹5,000 crore to set up a 100 MW AI-ready data centre in Telangana’s Bharat Future City. The project aligns with the state’s goal of becoming India’s top hub for AI-driven digital infrastructure.
The announcement followed a meeting at the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos between UPC Volt’s leadership and the ‘Telangana Rising’ delegation, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. UPC Volt is a collaboration between UPC Renewables Group and VOLT Data Centers, both known for energy-efficient and high-performance data infrastructure.
The proposed facility will include a 100 MW round-the-clock renewable energy plant. It will operate under Telangana’s Green Open Access framework, ensuring the data centre runs entirely on carbon-free power.
Over the next five years, the project is set to create more than 3,000 jobs during construction and at least 800 jobs during operation. Telangana officials confirmed the facility will follow a power-first model focused on sustainability.
The Telangana delegation met with key executives including Han de Groot, CEO of Volt; Steven Zwaan, co-founder of UPC Renewables APAC; Alok Nigam, CEO of UPC Renewables India; and Vikas Sharma, Assistant Vice President of UPC Renewables India.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy praised IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu for securing the investment. He reaffirmed Telangana’s commitment to building advanced digital infrastructure while pursuing net zero development and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
Minister Sridhar Babu said Telangana is aggressively pushing to attract AI data centre investments. He pointed to state incentives for critical components such as high-density GPUs, large-scale compute infrastructure, and liquid cooling systems.
He also said Telangana is developing three dedicated economic zones focused on services, manufacturing, and agriculture under the state’s 2047 vision.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy also participated in the meeting.
