Tribal group welcomed in Hyderabad under Adivasi tourism programme

Hyderabad: A group of tribal participants from the Adilabad district arrived in Hyderabad under the Adivasi tourism programme and received a ceremonial welcome at Taramati Baradari.

Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao flagged off the delegation earlier at Gonduguda in Utnoor Mandal and travelled with them to the city. He later received the participants at the venue on behalf of the State government.

Around 250 tribals from Gond hamlets joined the visit. The minister shared a meal with them, highlighting cultural exchange and inclusiveness.

The group later proceeded to visit the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad as part of the itinerary.

Adivasi tourism programme aims to expand exposure for tribal youth

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the Adivasi tourism programme seeks to familiarise tribal communities with urban life and broaden their awareness. He recalled that during an earlier programme in Kummarigunta, only a few participants had visited Hyderabad.

Therefore, he said, the government introduced such visits to expand exposure and encourage learning opportunities. The initiative will be implemented in phases across the State.

As part of the two-day tour, participants will visit key landmarks including Charminar, Golconda Fort, Lumbini Park, Hussain Sagar, and Shilparamam. They will also observe major infrastructure such as the international airport and high-rise buildings.

Meanwhile, the minister said the government is promoting tourism as a livelihood source. He added that encouraging cultural performances at tourist destinations will support local artists and generate employment.

Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju, Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Gauthami, Tourism Director Lakshman Ranjith Naik, and others attended the programme.
