Telangana achieves 86% ration distribution ahead of deadline

Hyderabad: Telangana ration distribution crossed 86% ahead of schedule, with the Civil Supplies Department completing the bulk of rice delivery well before the April 30 deadline.

Officials said the state distributed over 5.48 lakh metric tonnes of rice to beneficiaries by April 21. This accounted for a major portion of the total allocation for the month.

The Centre had earlier directed states to advance food grain distribution for the April–June 2026 quarter. Accordingly, Telangana implemented an accelerated plan to avoid logistical and storage constraints before the procurement season.

Out of the total allocation of 6,43,303 metric tonnes, authorities have already delivered 5,48,140 metric tonnes. As a result, Telangana ration distribution reached 86% completion with several days remaining.

Telangana ration distribution records 2.62 crore transactions

Officials said the distribution drive covered beneficiaries across the state. So far, the system has recorded over 2.62 crore successful transactions.

To ensure transparency, authorities processed all transactions through digital systems at fair price shops. In addition, officials monitored beneficiary authentication independently during the rollout.

The department said the early completion of distribution reflects coordinated planning and efficient execution across districts.
