Hyderabad: The Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) has launched a digital network mapping drive across its distribution network to strengthen power supply management and improve consumer services. The initiative aims to identify outages faster, speed up complaint resolution and improve transparency.
The first phase is being implemented in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and Energy Department Special Chief Secretary Navin Mittal are guiding the initiative. TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Jitish V. Patil launched the programme.
Meanwhile, field engineers are verifying the structure codes of distribution transformers connected to every 11 kV feeder. During the July billing cycle, meter readers will visit every transformer. They will also map the corresponding consumer service connections.
Digital network mapping to strengthen power distribution
The exercise will digitally map the entire electricity network. It covers EHT substations, 33/11 kV substations, 11 kV feeders, distribution transformers and individual consumer service connections. As a result, consumers will be able to trace the complete power supply path through a single digital platform.
Further, TGSPDCL said the system will quickly identify outages and link complaints registered through the 1912 call centre to the relevant feeder or transformer. It will also reduce fault detection time. Moreover, it will speed up power restoration and provide consumers with updates on outages and estimated restoration time.
In addition, the utility is developing an integrated digital platform. The system will support real-time complaint analysis, automatic outage detection, instant alerts to field staff and faster restoration of power supply.
Jitish V. Patil said TGSPDCL aims to use technology and digitalisation extensively to provide faster, transparent and reliable services. He added that the initiative would strengthen the future power distribution network and set new benchmarks in consumer services.
