Hyderabad: Police and judicial officials on Tuesday reviewed preparations for the Section 138 Lok Adalat scheduled for July 18. The initiative aims to facilitate the amicable settlement of cheque bounce cases registered under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
District Legal Services Authority, Nampally Chairperson and Sessions Judge K. Sai Rama Devi chaired the coordination meeting. Telangana State Legal Services Authority Executive Chairman Justice Sam Koshy issued the directions, while Member Secretary P. Panchakshari guided the preparations.
Section 138 Lok Adalat to speed up cheque bounce settlements
Sai Rama Devi said the Lok Adalat provides an effective platform to resolve cheque bounce disputes through mutual settlement. She urged police officials to ensure timely service of notices and help secure the presence of litigants on the scheduled day.
She said the settlement process saves time and litigation costs for both parties. It also helps reduce the pendency of cases before courts.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Chaitanya Kumar, Lavanya, Srinivas, other police officers, judicial officers and officials of the District Legal Services Authority attended the meeting.
