Hyderabad: Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand reviewed the Telangana Special Battalions during a comprehensive meeting at the battalion headquarters in Jubilee Hills. He directed officials to strengthen infrastructure, improve personnel welfare and accelerate modernisation initiatives.
The DGP inspected the administrative wings, communication systems, armoury and ongoing infrastructure works. He also reviewed presentations made by senior officers on the functioning of the battalions.
Anand said the Special Battalions had played a key role alongside the Civil Police, from anti-Naxal operations to recent flood rescue missions in Nizamabad and Kamareddy. He said their legacy of service and courage continues to inspire the police force.
Telangana Special Battalions focus on welfare and modernisation
The DGP instructed officials to expedite recruitment for vacant posts. He also called for stronger technological capabilities, better vehicle availability and improved residential quarters, drinking water and healthcare facilities for personnel.
Further, Anand directed officers to ensure transparent duty allocation. He asked them to strengthen ‘Mitra’ Counselling Centres for personnel experiencing stress. He also ordered awareness campaigns against drug abuse and online betting, with counselling as the primary approach.
In addition, the DGP reviewed proposals to establish new Special Battalions in Future City and Amangal. He said the expansion would strengthen the force’s future readiness.
Anand reiterated that the welfare and training of police personnel would remain a top priority as Telangana Police continue to adopt technology-driven policing.
