Bhatti Vikramarka reviews minimum wage revision for workers

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka reviewed the minimum wage revision process and said the Telangana government was committed to improving workers’ living standards through a scientific approach.

A Cabinet sub-committee met on Monday at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad to discuss minimum wage revision.

Ministers Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy, Ponnam Prabhakar and Duddilla Sridhar Babu attended the meeting. In addition, Rajya Sabha member Vem Narender Reddy and senior officials also participated.

Bhatti Vikramarka said the government wanted to implement a scientific wage revision system in Telangana. He added that the committee examined wage models followed in other major states.

Minimum wage revision discussed by Cabinet panel

The committee also discussed the possible impact of the new Labour Code proposed by the Central government.

Officials said the panel decided to revise wages according to workers’ actual needs. They said rising prices and increasing living costs should guide the revision process.

Meanwhile, the committee supported adopting some of the best wage models available in the country.

Bhatti Vikramarka said the government was working to make Telangana a worker-friendly state.

He said the government would gather opinions from different sections before taking a final decision on the wage revision exercise.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the decision would benefit lakhs of workers in organised and unorganised sectors across Telangana.
