Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy invited Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to attend a students’ gathering on June 12 where the government will administer an anti-drug pledge after schools reopen.
Revanth Reddy met the Governor at Lok Bhavan and extended the invitation for the programme.
During the event, students will take a pledge to stay away from tobacco, alcohol and narcotic substances. The government will also urge students to behave as responsible citizens.
Earlier, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla suggested to the Chief Minister that students should take part in a statewide awareness initiative against drug abuse.
Anti-drug pledge programme planned for students
Following the Governor’s suggestion, the Telangana government decided to organise a massive students’ gathering for the programme.
Officials said the initiative aimed to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and substance addiction.
The programme will coincide with the reopening of schools across the state on June 12.
