Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju directed officials to prepare a Telangana export action plan to accelerate the State’s export growth. The plan will address exporters’ concerns, strengthen infrastructure, expand international markets and promote export-friendly policies.
Chairing the State Export Promotion Committee (SEPC) meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday, the Chief Secretary instructed all departments to work in close coordination to promote exports.
The priority sectors include industries, manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals, handicrafts and IT-enabled services.
Telangana export action plan targets key sectors
Sanjay Jaju directed officials to expedite measures that would strengthen the State’s economy through exports. He said Telangana should emerge as one of the country’s leading export hubs. Meanwhile, officials informed the meeting that Telangana recorded exports worth ₹1,22,655 crore during the previous financial year.
They also said the State had strong potential to increase exports of agricultural produce, horticultural products, poultry products, vegetable seeds, red chillies and other commodities. In addition, officials noted that Telangana offered a favourable ecosystem to expand exports to global markets.
Telangana export action plan stresses coordination
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary directed officials to strengthen coordination with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Union Government. He said closer coordination would improve export performance. Moreover, it would support sustained growth across sectors.
Therefore, the export action plan will focus on removing bottlenecks, improving infrastructure and creating new opportunities for exporters to access international markets.
