Telangana completes transfer process for 4,869 health department employees

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has completed the health department transfers process, relocating 4,869 employees across 157 cadres while ensuring uninterrupted medical services.

Officials carried out the large-scale exercise to maintain a balanced distribution of human resources across government healthcare institutions.

The Directorate of Public Health accounted for the highest number of transfers, with 2,258 employees changing postings.

Authorities also reorganised doctors, nurses and paramedical staff across various departments, government medical colleges and teaching hospitals.

The government conducted the exercise ahead of National Medical Commission (NMC) inspections scheduled at government medical colleges and teaching hospitals.

Officials ensured that every institution had adequate faculty, doctors and support staff to meet NMC requirements.

At the same time, the government avoided shifting large numbers of employees from any single hospital.

This approach helped maintain uninterrupted healthcare services for patients.

Further, officials restricted transfer eligibility to employees who had served at the same station for four years or more.

They adopted the policy to prevent staff shortages in hospitals across districts.

According to the Health Department, previous experiences highlighted the need for a carefully planned transfer process.

Health department transfers support district healthcare expansion

Meanwhile, the government continues to strengthen district hospitals, area hospitals, community health centres and teaching hospitals.

It aims to provide nearly 90 per cent of required healthcare services at the district level.

Additionally, the government is posting newly recruited doctors, staff nurses and paramedical personnel in rural and district-level institutions.

Officials believe the move will reduce staff shortages and improve access to healthcare in remote areas.

The strategy also aims to reduce the burden on patients who travel to Hyderabad and Warangal for treatment.

Health Department officials said the transparent transfer process marks another step towards strengthening the state’s healthcare system.

The exercise also enabled doctors and employees who served for long periods in districts to secure postings in Hyderabad and other urban centres.

Many employees have reportedly welcomed the transfers and expressed confidence in delivering improved healthcare services.
