Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dr Sravan Dasoju on Friday accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of using the Backward Classes (BC) identity as political cover to mask the Congress government’s failure in delivering welfare promises.
He stated that the Congress had not fulfilled even a single commitment from the Kamareddy Declaration — its 2023 pre-election blueprint for BC empowerment since taking office.
“Revanth Reddy has reduced BC aspirations to a political gimmick,” Sravan said. “Instead of empowering the community, he hides behind their identity to excuse non-performance.”
Revanth Reddy BC promises unfulfilled, says Sravan
Holding up a copy of the Kamareddy Declaration, Sravan said the document was designed to win votes, not deliver change. He noted that the Congress pledged statutory status for the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule BC Sub-Plan with ₹20,000 crore annually. However, no funds have been allocated to date.
He further highlighted unkept promises such as forming a Ministry for Most Backward Classes, launching welfare corporations for each BC caste, and offering interest-free loans of up to ₹10 lakh for BC youth pursuing education or starting businesses.
According to Sravan, the Congress also failed to initiate promised infrastructure projects. No BC Aikyatha Bhavans worth ₹50 crore had come up in any district. Gurukul schools in every mandal and degree colleges for BC students remain unstarted. He added that fee reimbursements for families earning under ₹3 lakh were still pending. Vruthi Bazaars for traditional artisans also exist only on paper.
Sravan accused the government of staging a “drama” with its 42% BC reservation announcement. He criticised the BC caste survey as “unscientific” and rushed, branding it a mere publicity act.
Despite repeated public assurances, the Congress has not produced a white paper or released any data on progress. “There are no details, no spending records, and no implementation updates only grand statements,” Sravan said.
He also condemned Revanth Reddy’s strategy of relying on symbolism, citing the projection of a BC candidate in the Jubilee Hills by-election. “Representation cannot replace real action,” he added.

Sravan demands public audit on BC welfare
Sravan warned that Telangana’s BC population, which exceeds 52%, would not be misled by what he called “token inclusivity.” He called for a public audit of every promise made in the Kamareddy Declaration.
“If Revanth Reddy truly supports BC empowerment, let him release a full report. How much money was spent? What was achieved? Who benefited?” Sravan asked.
He alleged that the Chief Minister often uses identity-based appeals to deflect criticism. “Each time accountability is demanded, he stirs emotional narratives. But Telangana’s BCs see through that now,” he said.
Sravan also accused the Congress of misusing the names of reformers. “Phule and Ambedkar stood for structural justice. The Congress today offers only shallow rhetoric,” he said.
Concluding his remarks, Sravan urged voters, particularly in Jubilee Hills, to stay vigilant. He said the BC community would not forget this betrayal and would respond decisively in the next election.
