Hyderabad: The MANUU Peace and Harmony Conference concluded on Friday with a strong call for interfaith dialogue and application of prophetic teachings to counter rising global divisions.
The Department of Islamic Studies at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) hosted the two-day international event. It partnered with the Henry Martyn Institute and brought together academics, researchers, and faith leaders to explore religious approaches to peace.
During the valedictory session, Prof. Obaidullah Fahd of Aligarh Muslim University urged participants to apply prophetic values in real-world contexts. He stressed that such principles are essential for building inclusive and cohesive societies.

Prof. Ram Puniyani, noted historian and guest of honour, highlighted the importance of intellectual and moral unity across faiths. According to him, mutual respect and dialogue are vital in preserving social harmony.
In his presidential address, Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar of MANUU, praised the academic quality of the papers. He said that platforms like this conference foster informed discussions that strengthen social bonds.
Chief guest Prof. P.H. Mohammad, Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, noted the scholarly depth of the event. He recognised its role in shaping public thought on religious coexistence.
Earlier, Prof. Mohammad Habib welcomed participants. Dr. Mohammad Sirajuddin moderated the proceedings, while Dr. Atif Imran delivered the vote of thanks.
