Hyderabad: Hyderabad GRP seized 33.058 kg of ganja worth ₹16.5 lakh and arrested two Odisha residents at Begumpet Railway Station on Friday.
The joint operation by GRP, RPF, and the Eagle Team TGNAB focused on passengers arriving from Odisha. During a platform check, officers stopped Rajesh Bishoyi, 26, and Sujata Singh, 29. The duo was allegedly trying to avoid police checks at Secunderabad station.
Investigators revealed that the ganja was meant for delivery in Mumbai. Kishore Lima, currently absconding, had promised Rajesh ₹1,000 per kg. He also booked their tickets on Train No.11020 Konark Express.
Hyderabad GRP ganja seizure foiled switch at Secunderabad
On October 8, at Chatrapur station, Kishore reportedly handed them two trolley bags containing 16 ganja bundles. However, the duo became wary of security near Secunderabad. As a result, they got off early at Begumpet, where GRP officers detained them during a random check.
The police recovered 33.058 kg of ganja, two mobile phones, Aadhaar cards, and a train ticket from Chatrapur to Mumbai.
A case was filed under Cr.No. 156/2025, U/Sec 8(c) r/w 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act at RPS Hyderabad.
Smt. Chandana Deepti, IPS, SP Railways, led the operation. IGP Railways K. Ramesh Naidu, IPS, praised the team and announced rewards for the officers involved.
