Hyderabad: The BJP is planning to rope in Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for the Jubilee Hills bypoll campaign, aiming to mobilise Seemandhra voters and sharpen its edge in the high-stakes contest.
BJP targets Seemandhra bloc with high-profile campaigners
With polling scheduled for November 11 and the campaign period ending on November 9, BJP leaders are working on plans to organise roadshows and public meetings featuring both leaders. Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, who head the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party (JSP), are key allies in the BJP-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh.
Congress, BRS deploy top leadership in campaign
The by-election has become a prestige battle for all three major parties. Congress candidate Naveen Yadav has the backing of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who is personally leading the campaign. Ministers and party workers are actively engaged in voter outreach. On the BRS front, working president K.T. Rama Rao is spearheading the campaign for Maganti Sunitha, wife of former MLA Maganti Gopinath.
Voter demographics drive BJP strategy
In Jubilee Hills, the voter base exceeds three lakh. BJP estimates suggest that over 1.5 lakh voters are from the Seemandhra region. Among them, the Kapu and Kamma communities, along with roughly 30,000 film industry professionals, make up a significant segment.
Party leaders believe Kapus rank second only to Muslim voters in size, while Kamma voters exceed 25,000. BJP strategists are confident that the presence of Naidu and Pawan Kalyan could sway these communities decisively in favour of their candidate, Deepak Reddy.
BJP explores outreach through top central leaders
To formalise the invitation, party officials are considering two options sending a delegation to Amaravati or routing the request through BJP national president J.P. Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Although political observers caution that securing time from both Andhra leaders may be difficult, party insiders remain hopeful. They believe a final push involving Naidu and Pawan Kalyan could influence swing voters in this increasingly intense three-way battle.
