Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will launch the ₹13,000-crore HAM road development project on June 17, marking the beginning of one of Telangana’s largest road infrastructure programmes.
Roads, Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced that the foundation stone-laying ceremony would take place in Kanagal of Nalgonda district.
The minister said the state government was giving top priority to road infrastructure and aimed to make Telangana a leading state in road connectivity.
HAM road development project to cover 6,300 kilometres
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the government had completed the tendering process and issued work orders for road projects under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).
The programme will upgrade 6,300 kilometres of roads across Telangana through 34 packages.
He said the Centre introduced the HAM model in 2016 and Telangana had adopted the same approach for large-scale road expansion.
According to the minister, he had worked continuously over the past year to bring the project to the implementation stage.
In addition, the Panchayat Raj Department under Minister Seethakka will undertake development works worth another ₹7,000 crore.
The HAM road development project is expected to improve road connectivity, transportation efficiency and regional development.
HAM road development project includes major Nalgonda works
The Chief Minister will begin his visit at 4 p.m. on June 17 in the Kanagal region of Nalgonda district.
Under the first package, the government will construct a divided double road from Darveshpuram to Dindi via Gurrampodu, Mallepalli and Devarakonda.
The project will cost nearly ₹300 crore.
The minister said authorities selected the stretch for expansion because of the high number of road accidents reported there.
The second package will cover the Chityal-Ramannapet-Valigonda-Bhuvanagiri-Jagdevpur corridor.
This road project will also cost around ₹300 crore.
Furthermore, the government will undertake road development works worth nearly ₹300 crore in the Aler Assembly constituency.
HAM road development project expected to transform Telangana
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the Chief Minister would offer special prayers at the Ellamma Temple in Darveshpuram before the programme.
He added that the government would organise a massive public meeting in Nalgonda following the inauguration ceremony.
According to the minister, the HAM road development project will significantly improve Telangana’s infrastructure landscape.
He said better roads would reduce accidents and increase opportunities for industrial investment in rural areas.
The minister also announced a review meeting on June 13 to ensure the success of the event.
In a related development, he said the government had approved a new water treatment plant for Nalgonda Municipal Corporation at a cost of ₹125 crore.
The facility will help provide Krishna river water to residents round the clock.
The Chief Minister will virtually lay the foundation stone for the project on the same day.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the government’s objective was to develop Nalgonda into a model district and make it one of the leading districts in Telangana.
