Hyderabad: Roads, Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the Telangana government was committed to providing quality education and reservation benefits to Muslim minorities while laying the foundation stone for a new Urdu medium school building in Nalgonda district.
The minister inaugurated the project at Manyam Chelka in Nalgonda town on Wednesday.
The government will construct the primary school building at an estimated cost of ₹44 lakh.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said construction work would begin immediately. He added that the government was prepared to spend up to ₹1 crore if required to ensure a high-quality educational facility.
Urdu medium school building to strengthen minority education
The minister said the government was giving top priority to education and healthcare.
He recalled that the Congress government under former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had granted Urdu the status of a second language.
He also noted that the government had implemented four per cent reservations for Muslim minorities based on the recommendations of the Sachar Committee.
According to Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, reservation benefits in education and employment were being extended to Muslim communities.
However, he stressed that reservation alone was not enough and that access to quality education remained equally important.
The minister said students at Prateek Memorial Government Junior College in Nalgonda were receiving computer education and artificial intelligence training.
He urged Muslim minority students to make full use of these opportunities.
Furthermore, he said students at the Bottuguda School were receiving AI training from the lower classes.
The government planned to develop the Urdu medium school building on similar lines, he added.
Urdu medium school building part of welfare initiatives
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced that the government would construct a Shadi Khana for Muslim minorities at a cost of ₹10 crore.
He urged residents to bring local issues to the attention of corporators or directly to him for immediate resolution.
The minister also said eligible poor Muslim families would receive Indiramma houses.
In addition, the government would construct houses wherever suitable land was available.
Nalgonda Mayor Burri Chaitanya Srinivas Reddy said the government continued to prioritise education and healthcare.
District Collector B. Chandrasekhar said officials were working to ensure quality education and healthcare for economically weaker sections.
He added that authorities would take steps to complete the Urdu medium school building at the earliest.
Later, the minister inspected double-bedroom housing units located behind the Collectorate.
He directed officials to complete all minor repairs and prepare the houses for occupation by July.
