Muslim reservations demand raised in Telangana

Hyderabad: Muslim reservations demand was renewed by the All India Muslim Minority Organization, which urged the Telangana government to introduce welfare measures and strengthen support for minority communities.

Addressing a press conference at NSS in Hyderguda, former MP Aziz Pasha called on the government to implement reservations for Muslims on the lines of the 4 per cent quota introduced by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

He said the government should take steps to improve educational and employment opportunities for minority communities. The organisation maintained that several longstanding commitments relating to minority welfare remained unfulfilled.

Leaders stated that many members of the community continued to face challenges in education and employment. Therefore, they urged the government to adopt targeted measures aimed at improving socio-economic conditions.

The organisation also sought the creation of a dedicated sub-plan for Muslims. In addition, it demanded the implementation of recommendations made by the Sachar Committee and the Ranganath Misra Commission.

The leaders called for political reservations, greater employment opportunities and free education for minority youth. They argued that such measures would help address disparities and promote inclusive development.

Organisation Chairman Syed Mukhtar Hussain, former Minority Finance Corporation Director Siddiqui and other leaders attended the press conference and reiterated their appeal for government action on minority welfare issues.
