Hyderabad: Syama Prasad Mukherjee tribute programmes were organised by the BJP in Telangana on Tuesday, with party leaders recalling the Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder’s contribution to national integration and urging workers to draw inspiration from his legacy.
Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao paid tributes to Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee on his Balidan Diwas and described him as a symbol of sacrifice, nationalism and commitment to India’s unity.
Addressing party leaders and workers, Rao said Dr. Mukherjee’s role in the integration of Jammu and Kashmir and his efforts to safeguard national interests continued to inspire BJP karyakartas. He noted that the Telangana BJP State Office was named after Dr. Mukherjee in recognition of his contribution.
Rao also drew parallels between the integration of Hyderabad under the Nizam’s rule and the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India. He said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel played a decisive role in integrating Hyderabad and other princely states, while Dr. Mukherjee sacrificed his life for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir.

Highlighting the upcoming 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Mukherjee, Rao urged party workers to take inspiration from the BJP’s growth in West Bengal and work towards establishing a BJP government in Telangana.
Former Governors Bandaru Dattatreya and Vidyasagar Rao, along with senior BJP leaders and party workers, attended the programme.
Separately, Bandaru Dattatreya paid tributes to Dr. Mukherjee and described him as a champion of national unity and democratic values. He said Dr. Mukherjee’s vision of complete national integration was realised through the abrogation of Article 370 and continued to guide the nation.
Dattatreya recalled that Dr. Mukherjee became known for advocating the principle that one nation could not have two Constitutions, two flags and two Prime Ministers. He said Dr. Mukherjee’s life remained an enduring example of patriotism, selfless service and national consciousness.
