Licensed surveyors demand job security in Telangana

Hyderabad: Licensed surveyors job security was at the centre of a protest staged by revenue surveyors who laid siege to Survey Bhavan in Narayanaguda, demanding employment safeguards and improved working conditions.

Licensed revenue surveyors gathered at the government office and pressed the authorities to address a series of long-pending demands. The agitation was organised by the Telangana Revenue Licensed Surveyors Association.

Addressing the protesters, association president Dr. Nagara Ramesh said nearly 6,500 licensed surveyors across Telangana were still waiting for job security despite receiving licence certificates from the government.

He said surveyors had been carrying out their responsibilities without adequate employment protection. Therefore, the association urged the government to take immediate steps to regularise working conditions and ensure stability for surveyors.

Licensed surveyors job security among key demands

The association demanded the abolition of the commission-based work system and sought a monthly honorarium of Rs.30,000 for licensed surveyors. It also called for the scrapping of the existing two-year licence renewal policy.

In addition, the protesters demanded the appointment of one surveyor for every two gram panchayats to strengthen survey-related services in rural areas.

The demonstrators also sought the release of surveyors who were arrested during recent agitations. Meanwhile, union leaders urged the government to hold discussions with representatives and resolve the issues at the earliest.
