Hyderabad Police organise Run for Unity on Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police organised a grand ‘Run for Unity’ on Friday to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India and the Architect of United India. The event, celebrated nationwide as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), aimed to reaffirm the nation’s unity, integrity, and security.

The main run was held at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road, while parallel events took place across seven police zones in Hyderabad. In total, around 5,000 citizens and runners participated enthusiastically, drawing inspiration from Sardar Patel’s remarkable role in uniting more than 560 princely states into one nation.

The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Sri Konidela Chiranjeevi, former Union Minister and film actor, who served as the Chief Guest, and Sri B. Sivadhar Reddy, IPS, Director General of Police, Telangana, as the Guest of Honour.

Moreover, senior police officials such as Sri Sandeep Shandilya, IPS (Director, Eagle), Sri M.M. Bhagwat, IPS (Additional DGP, Law & Order), Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS (Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad), Sri Tafseer Iqubal, IPS (Joint CP, Law & Order), and Sri D. Joel Davis, IPS (Joint CP, Traffic) attended the event. DCPs K. Shilpavalli, K. Apoorva Rao, Dhara Kavitha, and Lavanya Naik Jadhav, along with other officers and staff, also participated.

Chiranjeevi calls Sardar Patel a symbol of unity

Addressing the participants, Chiranjeevi described Sardar Patel’s vision and determination as a guiding force for the younger generation. He said Patel was “a blessing who united a fragmented India of 560 pieces into one nation.” Furthermore, he commended the Hyderabad Police for spreading Patel’s message of Unity in Diversity through the ‘Run for Unity.’

Chiranjeevi also spoke about the growing threat of Deep Fake technology. He assured the public that both the DGP and Hyderabad Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar were taking the issue seriously and personally monitoring investigations. He added that citizens should not fear cybercrimes since the police are providing full support and protection.

DGP and CP urge youth to uphold Patel’s ideals

DGP B. Sivadhar Reddy said the run was “more than just a fitness event” and symbolised every citizen’s commitment to national unity. He praised Sardar Patel’s firm leadership that ensured India’s political integration and enduring stability.

Similarly, Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar urged the youth to emulate Sardar Patel and work toward creating a better society. He cautioned citizens against falling prey to cybercrimes and reiterated that police are tracing the culprits behind Deep Fake operations. Moreover, he warned that youngsters offering their bank accounts to cybercriminals for small payments could face serious legal action.
