Hyderabad: Roads, Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said Education for poor students remained the most effective tool for transforming lives and improving the future of families.
The minister said the Telangana government was giving top priority to education and had decided to provide breakfast and lunch to around 3.5 lakh Intermediate students from the current academic year.
He made the remarks during his visit to Tipparthi mandal in Nalgonda district on Wednesday.
The minister inspected double-bedroom housing units and reviewed the construction of a new junior college building sanctioned at a cost of ₹6 crore.
Education for poor students drives development
Addressing the media, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the government had sanctioned modern junior college buildings in Tipparthi and Kanagal mandals at a cost of ₹6 crore each.
He said the buildings would provide quality educational infrastructure and help improve learning outcomes.
According to the minister, development was possible only through education.
He said the government had strengthened higher education opportunities in Nalgonda by establishing Mahatma Gandhi University and introducing B.Pharmacy and Law courses.
The minister directed officials and the contractor to complete the Tipparthi junior college building within six months.
He said the government’s initiative to provide breakfast and lunch would help students continue their education without hardship.
Furthermore, he announced plans to introduce computer education and artificial intelligence training in Intermediate colleges in the future.
He noted that AI education was already being provided at Prateek School in Bottuguda with support from the Prateek Foundation.
Education for poor students supported through welfare measures
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy instructed officials to complete all facilities in the 100 double-bedroom houses constructed at Tipparthi.
He directed them to make the houses ready for occupation by July 1.
The minister said all beneficiaries would receive ₹25,000 each from his personal contribution during the housewarming programme.
He also said the government was preparing to inaugurate double-bedroom housing units constructed behind the Collectorate in Nalgonda town.
As part of Tipparthi’s development, the government installed bronze statues of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram in the mandal headquarters.
The minister said the government was taking steps to establish rice mills in every mandal through women’s self-help groups.
According to him, economic empowerment of women would strengthen families and improve livelihoods.
He noted that the state government had recently sanctioned ₹500 crore in interest-free loans to women’s self-help groups.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy urged students not to discontinue education after Class 10.
He said technical education could create employment opportunities and improve career prospects.
The minister added that institutions such as NACK and SETWIN had been established in Nalgonda to expand skill development opportunities.
District Collector B. Chandrasekhar, R&B SE Sreedhar Reddy and other officials attended the programme.
