Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh on Friday launched Operation Muskan-12, a month-long campaign to trace missing children and rescue those forced into begging, child labour, rag-picking, trafficking and bonded labour.
The campaign will continue until July 31. Speaking at a convergence meeting at the Cyberabad Commissionerate, the Commissioner urged all stakeholder departments to work together and ensure the operation’s success.
Operation Muskan-12 to strengthen child rescue efforts
Cyberabad Police have formed seven special teams, each headed by a Sub-Inspector, to identify, rescue and rehabilitate vulnerable children across the commissionerate.
Additionally, the teams will use the facial recognition application Darpan to trace missing and unidentified children. They have also identified clusters and hotspots from previous cases where children were forced into labour.
Moreover, the police teams will work with stakeholder departments to conduct rescue operations and rehabilitate rescued children.
Operation Muskan-12 brings departments together
DCP (Women & Child Safety Wing) K. Srujana will supervise the campaign. Officials from the Labour Department, Child Welfare Committees, District Child Protection Units and other departments will support the operation.
Meanwhile, ACP (Women & Child Safety Wing) S. Krishna Prasad, Child Welfare Committee members, District Child Protection Officers from Medchal Malkajgiri, Rangareddy and Sangareddy, Labour Department officials, medical officers and personnel from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit attended the convergence meeting.
