Interstate baby kidnapping solved through CCTV analysis

The accused kidnapped the baby in the early hours of June 30 while her mother, a circus worker from Karnataka, slept on the pavement outside Lingampally Railway Station with her troupe.

Immediately after registering the case, ACP CH. Y. Srinivas constituted three special police teams.

Inspector S. Vijai, Detective Inspector Sathyanarayana of Ameenpur and Detective Inspector N. Bhaskar of Chandanagar led the teams.

The investigators examined CCTV footage from Cyberabad, Hyderabad and Malkajgiri for three days. Subsequently, they identified the suspects, arrested all five accused and rescued the infant.

Interstate baby kidnapping linked to trafficking plan

Police said the accused allegedly kidnapped the baby to sell her to a childless woman from Kolkata for ₹1.5 lakh.

Furthermore, investigators found that the accused had worked through intermediaries in Hyderabad and planned to transport the infant to West Bengal.

However, the police intercepted the group before it could leave the state. They rescued the baby safely and reunited her with her mother.
