Hyderabad: Narimalla Pravalika, a student of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Sports Academy, won a gold medal as part of India’s women’s 4x400m relay team at the inaugural Asian Under-23 Athletics Championships in Ordos, China. Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar honoured her at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Friday.
The Minister congratulated Pravalika for contributing to India’s gold medal victory. He said her achievement had brought pride to Telangana.
Pravalika hails from Gundlapalli village in Dindi mandal of Nalgonda district. The Minister said her rise from a modest family reflected the talent found in rural Telangana. He added that her success would inspire young athletes across the state.

Further, Adluri Laxman Kumar said the government gave equal priority to sports and education in Social Welfare Residential Institutions. He said the government aimed to develop talented students into world-class athletes.
Additionally, he said the government continued to expand sports infrastructure. It also provided expert coaching, nutrition support and international-standard training facilities.
Meanwhile, the Minister said the Telangana government, under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, had identified sports as a priority sector. He added that the government remained committed to producing Olympic-level athletes from rural areas.
He also said the Chief Minister had announced a Group-I level government job for Telangana athletes who win Olympic medals. According to the Minister, the decision had encouraged young sportspersons across the state.
Moreover, Adluri Laxman Kumar congratulated coach Paspula Parushuramudu, the coaching staff of the Dindi Social Welfare Gurukul Sports Academy and Pravalika’s parents. He said their dedication played a vital role in every athlete’s success.
Finally, the Minister expressed confidence that Narimalla Pravalika would win more medals for India and Telangana at the Asian Games, World Athletics Championships, Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.
