KTR demands rollback of LPG price hike on May Day

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K. T. Rama Rao had demanded an immediate LPG price hike rollback, calling the increase a burden on workers and the poor.

He made the demand while addressing May Day celebrations at Telangana Bhavan on Friday. The LPG price hike rollback call came amid sharp criticism of the Union government’s fuel pricing policies.

KTR alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central government had increased LPG cylinder prices by nearly ₹1,000 in a single move. He described the hike as unprecedented and harmful to vulnerable sections.

LPG price hike rollback demand over impact on businesses

KTR said commercial LPG cylinders had reached ₹3,315 in Hyderabad. Therefore, he warned that the hike would severely affect hotels, small businesses and self-employed workers.

He said higher fuel costs could trigger food price inflation. As a result, many establishments in the hospitality sector could face closure.

According to him, such closures could put lakhs of jobs at risk. He added that the situation would worsen if fuel prices continued to rise.

LPG price hike rollback call linked to inflation concerns

The BRS leader also criticised the Centre for increasing fuel prices through taxation. He linked these policies to rising inflation and the weakening rupee.

Furthermore, KTR urged opposition parties across the country to unite against fuel price hikes. He stressed the need for coordinated action at the national level.

He called on the Union government to withdraw the increased LPG, petrol and diesel prices immediately. The LPG price hike rollback, he said, was essential to reduce the burden on the public.
