LB Nagar Hayathnagar corridor to get double-decker elevated link

Hyderabad: The State government announced a ₹941 crore double-decker elevated project on Tuesday for the LB Nagar Hayathnagar corridor to reduce congestion on NH-65.

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy made the announcement in the Assembly while replying to queries. He said the 5.5-km project would serve nearly 10 lakh to 12 lakh residents. It would cover around 60 to 70 colonies in Hyderabad’s eastern corridor.

The Minister said the structure was planned in three levels. Service roads would remain at ground level. Highway traffic would run on the middle deck. A Metro rail line would be built on the top deck.

He said poor crossing facilities and heavy traffic now forced commuters to travel more than 2 km extra. As a result, the stretch faced regular congestion and safety risks. The project, therefore, was designed to improve movement and cut travel time.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the funding pattern had also been worked out. He said the Centre would provide ₹741 crore. The State government and HMRL would provide ₹200 crore. He added that proposals had been sent to the Centre on March 17, 2026. Approvals were expected soon, and tenders would be called after that.

LB Nagar Hayathnagar corridor funding and design

The Minister said the LB Nagar Hayathnagar corridor would bring long-term traffic relief on one of the city’s busiest highway sections. He said the plan addressed both capacity and safety. Moreover, the three-tier design was intended to separate local traffic, highway traffic, and Metro movement.

He also gave an update on another NH-65 project. The ₹545 crore widening of the LB Nagar-Malkapur stretch into six lanes was nearing completion. About 80% of the work had already been finished, he said.

In addition, the State had agreed to bear ₹53.55 crore for a 1.2-km double-decker flyover between Madinaguda and BHEL. He said that project would further strengthen the Hyderabad-Mumbai highway corridor. It would also improve movement on another busy urban section.

LB Nagar Hayathnagar corridor and wider road plans

The Minister also outlined a larger connectivity plan beyond Hyderabad. He said a 52-km elevated corridor from Mannanur to Srisailam was being planned at a cost of ₹7,600 crore. The project was meant to improve safety on the ghat road. It was also intended to speed up access to the temple town.

He said the Detailed Project Report had already been prepared. It was in the final stage of approval. The State cabinet had cleared the proposal, and it had been sent to the Centre for final sanction.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the Mannanur-Srisailam project would sharply reduce travel time after completion. Besides that, it would help pilgrims make a same-day visit to Srisailam. He said it would also improve safety in the forest and ghat stretches.

The Minister said these projects would improve connectivity across Telangana. He added that they would ease congestion on key corridors and strengthen road safety in fast-growing urban and pilgrimage routes.
