Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao expressed grief over the Bharathiraja death and described the veteran filmmaker’s passing as a major loss to Indian cinema.
In a post on X, KTR said the news of Bharathiraja’s death had deeply saddened him.
He hailed the filmmaker as a visionary who guided Indian cinema in a new direction.
According to KTR, Bharathiraja’s films would remain in the hearts of audiences for generations.

The BRS leader said the filmmaker’s passing was an irreparable loss not only to the Tamil film industry but also to Indian cinema.
He conveyed his condolences to Bharathiraja’s family members, colleagues and admirers.
KTR also prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced that Bharathiraja’s last rites would take place with full state honours.
The Tamil Nadu government said it took the decision in recognition of the filmmaker’s exceptional contribution to Tamil cinema.
Earlier, the Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) had urged the state government to accord official honours to Bharathiraja.
The association sought government recognition for its founder and the celebrated filmmaker.
Subsequently, Chief Minister Vijay confirmed that the government would conduct the funeral with official honours.
