S Janaki death draws tributes from Revanth Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu

Hyderabad: The reported S Janaki death on Saturday evening drew tributes from Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The celebrated playback singer had a career spanning nearly six decades. During that period, she reportedly recorded more than 48,000 songs across several Indian languages. Several public figures paid tribute to the singer and recalled her contribution to Indian film music.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also expressed grief over the singer’s reported death through a social media post. He described Janaki as the “Nightingale of South India” and a proud daughter of the Telugu land.

Chandrababu Naidu said her six-decade musical journey had created an unmatched legacy in Indian film music. He added that her voice had enchanted listeners across generations. Furthermore, he said her songs would remain alive forever.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister also recalled her contribution to Indian cinema and said the music world would permanently remember her achievements. He extended condolences to her family, admirers and the wider music fraternity. Finally, he prayed for peace to her soul.
