Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Monday accused the Congress party of betraying Backward Classes (BCs). He stated they failed to implement the promised 42% reservation in Telangana. He also charged the BJP with deceiving BCs “in the name of welfare, reservation, and funds.”
Addressing a meeting of BC public representatives at Telangana Bhavan, KTR announced that the BRS would launch a nationwide campaign. The campaign aims to “expose Rahul Gandhi’s deception.” He criticized Gandhi for “claiming across India that 42% BC quota was implemented in Telangana, when in reality not even 1% was added.”
Congress BC quota betrayal will be raised in Parliament, says KTR
KTR demanded that the Congress leader introduce a Private Member’s Bill in Parliament if he was “truly committed to BC reservations.” He also urged all Congress and BJP MPs from Telangana to raise the issue in the upcoming winter session of Parliament.
He accused the Congress of diverting attention by focusing only on local body reservations. Moreover, they ignored the promised ₹20,000 crore annual allocation for BC welfare. “Not a word has been mentioned about it,” he said. He added that BRS would continue to press for the fund to be included in the next state budget.
BRS leaders rally around BC reservation demand, target Congress
Senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao said BC communities “continue to stand firmly with KCR” because of the welfare measures extended to them over the past decade. A presentation by MLC Dr. Dasoju Sravan was displayed during the event, claiming to expose the “fraud” allegedly committed by Congress regarding the BC quota promise.
Former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav also joined the attack. He stated that BRS leaders would soon take the issue of “Congress betrayal of BCs” directly to the public.
