Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Saturday warned the Central government against sidelining Telangana in the upcoming Union Budget, alleging continued neglect and discrimination in financial allocations.
Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, the Minister said any injustice in Sunday’s budget would raise questions about the role of BJP MPs from Telangana. “We’ll see whether the full moon brings light or darkness to Telangana,” he remarked, expressing concern over the State’s repeated exclusion from key Central support.
Centre must not sideline Telangana in budget allocations, says Minister
Ponnam accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of maintaining a grudge against Telangana’s formation and said the Centre has consistently ignored the State’s legitimate proposals. He demanded immediate support for pending projects such as the Outer Ring Road, Metro Rail Phase-II, and the Musi River rejuvenation.
He called this appeal a “final reminder” to the BJP-led Union government, stating that Telangana deserves at least basic justice.
The Minister questioned the silence of the eight BJP MPs representing Telangana, asking why their presence has failed to translate into meaningful support from the Centre.
He clarified that Telangana was not asking for special favours over neighbouring states, but simply for its fair share of development funds and national-level institutions.
