Hyderabad: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Hyderabad Zonal Unit seized 27.15 kilograms of hydroponic weed worth an estimated ₹9.5 crore at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad, in a late-night operation on January 30.

At approximately 1:15 a.m., four international passengers arriving from Bangkok on Thai Airways Flight TG-329 were intercepted along with three local associates while transferring their check-in baggage.

Upon inspection, officials recovered multiple packets of greenish-brown lumpy material concealed inside trolley bags. Testing confirmed the substance as Ganja (Marijuana), specifically hydroponic-grade weed cultivated using advanced techniques.
All 27.15 kilograms of the contraband were seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The DRI arrested all seven accused — four Indian international passengers and three associates involved in the smuggling operation.
The agency confirmed that further investigation is underway to identify the broader network behind the smuggling attempt.
