Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy reviewed paddy procurement in Nalgonda. He directed officials to ensure smooth procurement without inconvenience to farmers.
He held a review meeting at Indira Bhavan in Nalgonda. District Collector Chandrasekhar, the Additional Collector, and senior officials attended the meeting.
During the review, he asked officials to carry out procurement on a war footing. He instructed them to arrange enough lorries at all procurement centres. He also directed officials to move the collected paddy to rice mills without delay.
Paddy procurement in Nalgonda to handle 2.30 lakh metric tonnes
The minister asked officials to deploy additional lorries in villages expecting higher arrivals. He also told them to set up procurement centres at function halls if required. This would prevent farmers from dumping paddy on roads.
Further, he directed officials to ensure timely payments to farmers. He said money should reach farmers’ bank accounts within the stipulated time.
He said officials must stay alert. Around 2.30 lakh metric tonnes of paddy is expected in the Nalgonda constituency.
