Hyderabad: Telangana has invited Norwegian companies to invest in key sectors, including Life Sciences, Healthcare, Clean Energy and emerging technologies, with the State pitching itself as a preferred destination for long-term partnerships.
Minister for IT and Industries D. Sridhar Babu extended the invitation during a meeting with a high-level Norwegian delegation led by Ambassador May-Elin Stener at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Tuesday.
Telangana Norwegian investment push targets tech and green sectors
The Telangana Norwegian investment push focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and identifying sectors for sustained collaboration. The Minister urged Norwegian entrepreneurs to establish industries in Telangana, stating that the State offered a conducive environment for investments.
“Telangana is ready to be Norway’s preferred partner in India for Life Sciences, Healthcare and Green Technologies,” Sridhar Babu said.
He highlighted that the government had introduced investor-friendly policies, ease of doing business reforms and world-class infrastructure. These measures, he said, supported rapid industrial growth and innovation-led development.
The Minister pointed to strong opportunities in Life Sciences, Healthcare, Digital Health, Biotechnology and Medical Devices. He asked Norwegian firms to leverage Telangana’s established ecosystem in these sectors.
Telangana Norwegian investment push proposes working group
The Telangana Norwegian investment push also emphasised collaboration in advanced and sustainable technologies. Sridhar Babu noted that Norway had emerged as a global leader in Clean Energy, Sustainable Infrastructure, Electric Mobility, Offshore Wind and Green Manufacturing.
He proposed cooperation in Artificial Intelligence, Climate Tech, Health Tech, Cybersecurity, Green Hydrogen, Battery Technology and Industrial Decarbonisation. Additionally, he called for joint efforts in Digital Health, Biotechnology and Medical Devices.
To formalise engagement, the Minister proposed a dedicated Telangana–Norway Working Group. The group would enable regular interaction between government agencies, industry representatives and investors from both sides.
Responding to the proposal, Ambassador Stener said Norway was keen to collaborate with progressive States like Telangana. “We are ready to work with Telangana. We will take further steps to strengthen bilateral relations and initiate the process for setting up the working group,” she said.
The meeting was attended by Bjorn Iversen, Head of Innovation Norway; Silje Christine Andersen, First Secretary; Siri Veseth Meling, Director in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud and senior officials.
