Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and declared that he would resign from his post if evidence proved that he had obstructed development projects in Telangana.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Kishan Reddy said the Chief Minister had been making personal remarks and unfounded allegations against him in recent public speeches.
The Union Minister said he was neither accountable to Revanth Reddy nor intimidated by his criticism. He alleged that the Chief Minister was attempting to divert public attention from growing dissatisfaction over the implementation of promises made during the Assembly elections.
Kishan Reddy challenge includes resignation offer
Kishan Reddy said he was prepared to face scrutiny regarding allegations that he had blocked projects in Telangana.
He proposed the formation of a committee comprising senior journalists to examine the claims.
“Let us constitute a committee comprising senior journalists. Tell the journalists exactly which projects I obstructed and where. I will abide by whatever report they submit. I am even prepared to resign if necessary,” he said.
The Union Minister maintained that he had consistently worked for the development of Telangana and did not require validation from the Chief Minister.
He said he had reached Parliament and the Union Cabinet with the support of the people and remained accountable to the citizens of Telangana.
Kishan Reddy challenge escalates political confrontation
The BJP leader accused Revanth Reddy of engaging in diversionary politics instead of focusing on the implementation of the Congress party’s election promises, including the six guarantees.
Kishan Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister was acting out of political insecurity and frustration. He also criticised what he described as personal attacks and threatening language directed at political opponents.
The Union Minister further claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government at the Centre had earned public support through governance and electoral mandates.
He alleged that the Chief Minister had failed to uphold the dignity of his office and accused the state government of irregularities and corruption.
The remarks mark the latest escalation in the ongoing political war of words between the ruling Congress government in Telangana and the BJP leadership.
