Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy distributed financial assistance and benefit allocations worth more than ₹11,220 crore under various women empowerment programmes during the “Praja Palana–Pragati Pranalika” public meeting held at Parade Grounds.
The event was organised as part of the Women’s Empowerment Week celebrations. During the programme, the Chief Minister handed over cheques to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Mandal Mahila Samakhyas (MMS) under the Mahila Shakti and Mahalakshmi schemes.
Women empowerment programmes support self-help groups
Revanth Reddy presented a cheque worth ₹20.34 crore to Mandal Mahila Samakhyas for the rental charges of 553 buses operated through TGSRTC.
The initiative aims to strengthen women’s groups and support their participation in livelihood and community development activities.
In addition, the Chief Minister distributed a cheque worth ₹500 crore towards interest-free loans for women beneficiaries across the state.
Officials said the financial assistance would help women improve economic activities and strengthen self-employment opportunities.
Women empowerment programmes include free bus travel support
The Chief Minister also handed over a cheque worth ₹10,700 crore towards the implementation of free bus travel facilities for women in Telangana.
The allocation supports the Mahalakshmi scheme, one of the flagship welfare initiatives of the state government.
According to officials, the programme has enabled women to access free travel in TGSRTC buses, reducing transportation costs and improving mobility across the state.
The government said the financial support reflected its continued focus on strengthening women’s welfare, economic empowerment and social inclusion.
