Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao said the joining of doctors in the BJP was a positive sign for the future of Telangana. He asserted that Indian politics was witnessing a shift with educated professionals and youth entering public life.
Addressing the media on Sunday after welcoming a group of doctors into the BJP, Ramchander Rao said there was an increasing attraction among youth and Gen Z towards the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ideology of the BJP. He said the long-held perception that politics was only for those with money, muscle power, or criminal backgrounds was changing.
He said Indian politics urgently required educated individuals, intellectuals and visionaries. According to him, the entry of medical professionals into the BJP reflected a growing political awareness among professionals. These professionals wanted to contribute to nation-building.
Ramchander Rao said the youth were increasingly asking serious questions about leadership, national security and governance. He said there was greater clarity among young citizens about which political forces were capable of protecting the nation. In addition, they were aware of which parties could address long-term challenges.
Doctors joining BJP reflect new political culture, says Rao
The BJP state chief criticised what he described as anti-national trends in certain universities. He alleged that convicted terrorist Afzal Guru was being glorified and that derogatory remarks were being made against Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Moreover, he said patriotic and responsible educated citizens must unite to counter such tendencies.
Ramchander Rao said the participation of intellectuals, including retired IAS and IPS officers, in politics was a welcome development. He added that since assuming charge as BJP state president, he had consistently called upon women, youth and intellectuals to join the party in large numbers.
He alleged that the Congress and BRS in Telangana lacked clear policies. According to him, they had reduced politics to abusive language. He said vulgar and undignified political discourse was harmful for future generations. Furthermore, he stressed that politics must be rooted in values, dignity and mature debate.
Stating that politics was not merely about securing election tickets, Ramchander Rao said it was about social responsibility and national development. He said the intellectual community must support the BJP to make India a global power and accelerate Telangana’s development.
Referring to the upcoming GHMC elections,
he sought the cooperation of citizens and intellectuals to ensure the election of a BJP mayor in Hyderabad. In addition, he urged support to politically counter the influence of the AIMIM.
He claimed that people across the country were increasingly looking towards the BJP. He asserted that even in Congress-ruled states, including Karnataka, the party was poised to return to power.
Ramchander Rao welcomed renowned physician Sai Chandra Malladi and congratulated him for leading the group of doctors and professionals who joined the BJP. The group included physiotherapists, paramedical experts and professionals from the pharmaceutical sector.
The programme was attended by MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy, MLC Anji Reddy, BJP senior leader Vanipalli Srinivas Reddy, and Medchal (Urban) district convener Malla Reddy. Also in attendance were Madhavaram Kantharao, Rajasekhar Reddy, former MLA Guvvala Balaraju, and other party leaders.
