International medical tourism event planned in Hyderabad in June

Hyderabad: Minister for Health Damodar Raja Narasimha directed officials to organise an international medical tourism event in Hyderabad in June to position the city as a global healthcare hub.

He issued the direction during a review meeting with senior officials from the Health and Tourism departments at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

The Minister said Hyderabad would emerge as a world-class medical tourism centre. He also recalled Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s directive to hold at least one such event every year.

International medical tourism event to host global delegates

Damodar Raja Narasimha instructed officials to coordinate closely with the Tourism department for smooth execution of the international medical tourism event.

He suggested inviting leading experts from domestic and global medical and pharmaceutical sectors. In addition, he asked officials to include private medical tourism organisations as stakeholders.

The Minister said delegates from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and other regions would attend. He also directed officials to arrange visits to major hospitals in Hyderabad.

These visits will cover government institutions such as NIMS, TIMS, Osmania Hospital, and Gandhi Hospital, along with private and corporate hospitals.

International medical tourism event linked to hospital expansion

The Minister proposed setting up International Patient Services departments in the three TIMS hospitals under development in Hyderabad.

Damodar Raja Narasimha directed officials to create a dedicated 50-bed ward for international patients in each hospital. This move will attract patients from India and abroad.

As a result, government hospitals will generate additional revenue. In turn, this will strengthen hospital management and improve services for local residents.

Separately, the Medical Recruitment Board completed recruitment for 2,322 nursing officer posts and released the selected candidates list.

The Minister directed officials to hand over appointment orders on May 12, marking International Nurses Day.

He also reviewed recruitment for Civil Assistant Surgeon Specialists, Assistant Professors, Pharmacists, and Multi-Purpose Health Assistants.

Officials said they would complete the assistant professor recruitment process by May 15. Meanwhile, the Minister instructed them to resolve legal issues in other recruitments quickly.

He said the government filled around 12,650 posts in the past two years. Therefore, completing the remaining recruitment will further improve healthcare services.
