Hyderabad: Indiramma Houses will reach all eligible poor families in phases, Minister for Revenue, Housing and Information and Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said on Monday.
The minister said the Indiramma government was committed to providing homes to poor families and protecting their dignity and self-respect.
Ponguleti participated in a programme at Kamalapur mandal in Hanumakonda district. He handed over around 394 double-bedroom houses to beneficiaries during the event.
Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar, Huzurabad MLA Kaushik Reddy and Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy attended the programme.
Hanumakonda District Collector Chahat Bajpai, Market Committee Chairperson Jhansi, public representatives, officials, sarpanches and beneficiaries also participated.
Ponguleti said the government, under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership, was taking welfare schemes directly to poor families. These measures included ration cards, fine rice and financial assistance for the marriages of poor girls.
The government had also increased diet and cosmetic charges for students, he said. In addition, authorities were completing around 35,000 unfinished houses across Telangana and handing them over to beneficiaries.
Indiramma Houses to receive ₹5 lakh assistance in stages
Under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, the government was sanctioning 4.5 lakh houses in the first phase and another 2.5 lakh in the second phase.
Further sanctions would follow in the third and fourth phases, Ponguleti said. He added that the government would cover all eligible families through the phased process.
Each Indiramma house would receive ₹5 lakh in financial assistance. The government would release the amount in stages directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts according to construction progress.
Ponguleti stressed that eligibility alone would determine selection. He said the government would not discriminate on the basis of caste, religion or political affiliation.
The government was also developing basic infrastructure in beneficiary colonies. Drinking water, roads and electricity would form part of these facilities, he said.
“Indiramma Government means Indiramma Houses. Our goal is to see happiness on the faces of the poor,” Ponguleti said.
Earlier, the ministers inspected double-bedroom houses at Guduru village. They also participated in housewarming ceremonies along with the beneficiaries.
